Case Keenum The GOAT

I've always liked Keenum.. cool to see here what he has done since being a UDFA and the potential he has in aiding Stroud's development.

Two guys that I absolutely love are Keenum & Fitzpatrick. I’m very glad they are both part of Texans history.

They’re good guys, undrafted but made themselves nice NFL careers, longer than many more talented individuals.

Makes me feel good knowing B students can get it done as well. (allegorically I’m saying their talent level was “B student” not their actual gpa)

I’d rather Keenum be #2. He is limited at this age, but I think there is less chance he craps the bed then Mills… Pending Mills improvement under this new regime. If he makes a lot of progress, make Mills #2, and Case 3. Either way, I think signing Case as half backup QB, half coach is a wise move. I expect him to retire after this year and transition into coaching. I’d love it if the Texans is his coaching spot.

Case had a chance to be a very solid starter but a lot of things had to go right for that to happen and instead a whole bunch of stuff went wrong. He was always going to be a slow developing project at best but somewhere else in the NFL Multiverse I like to think that there's a version of Case who didn't get pushed into starting so soon, who did get to keep playing for a Gary Kubiak who didn't get ill during that season and who didn't get fired.

That kind of story can be strung together about quite a few players but in most cases I don't think they necessarily had the ability to take advantage of it. Case could as we saw in Minnesota. He just wasn't going to be the guy who carries the team (a lot like Fitz) and that made him the guy who was always one bad stretch of games away from being replaced.

He had his 15 minutes of fame. Or in Kennum's "case", 10 seconds.
Best percentage of catchable balls in the Red Zone.

Zero turnover-worthy (bad) throw.

That's a heck a whole lot more than 10 seconds.

And that was with Dalvin Cook mostly on the shelf and an offensive line that was ranked 22nd.

Note that PFF also said Keenum was good at avoiding pressure.

Vikings 2017 offensive line ranking.
https://vikingsterritory.com/2018/n...otball-focus-grades-of-every-minnesota-viking

Center: P. Eilen (32)

Guards: J. Berger (18), N.Easton (60)

Tackles: M. Remmers (36), R. Reif (63)

That was way worse an Offensive Line than those of the Texans in the last several years.

Why?
Keenum had his best year with the Vikings.

The Texans are still hoping to find a QB that could take them far into the playoffs.

Such a sad taste of an affair here in Houston.

nope, not gonna reel me in this time 76..

Fun Fact: Flacco threw for over 300 yards in the last game of the 2014 season for the Ravens against the Browns to keep the Texans out of the playoffs. The GOAT beating the Ravens the week before by slinging it around the field for 185 yards and an INT on less than 50% passing. GOAT just doing what GOAT does.

Revenge game for Case this week?
