Texans unveil Color Rush uniform, but you will have to wait until 2017 to see it live

I am probably missing the point of color rush games, but I thought it was to wear very bright colors (last year I remember seeing some pics of the color rush game and it was bright red vs bright green)

now, putting aside the fact that they choose a color rush uniform that the team cannot use.

how is dark blue a good choice for color rush?

if you compare the color rush uniform with the usual "all blue" uniform, there's no much difference at all.

yeah, the numbers are red instead of white... but, meh...

maybe I'm just missing the point

(PS: couldn't find a thread where to post this, if there is one feel free to merge)

I think they look great. Can't wait to eventually bust 'em out.

These look more bold than bright, which I like. The bright just for the sake of looks kinda silly to me.

49'ers color rush are black so these dark colors vs dark colors game will look dumb

Texans won't wear them on Thursday night because their colors are too close to what Patriots will be wearing. I still think the all white will look sweet UH looked great in all white Thursday night.

I think they are Pimp Tight! ...

I really think that they are pretty cool. Pretty much they just reversed the red, and white. The stripe on the pants is red vs white, etc. The best thing is though, is no huge red collar! :littlelol: I'm gonna get one.

That white outline is neessary if they're going to combine dark red and dark blue. Otherwise the 2 colors clash and daze the eyesight.

I like them.

The point of color rush is that they were a solid monochrome/very little other color uni. Pants and all.
Some teams just happen to have brighter primary colors.

I'm not sure why our color rush uni's aren't all Battle Red instead of steel blue. If this where the case, we could have show cased it Thursday night without worry of looking like Patriots.

On a side note: I think we're missing our opportunity to go full patriotic with a red, white, and blue color scheme whenever they wanted with an interchangeable helmet, jersey, and pants combo on a weekly basis.

Red helmet, white jersey, blue pants.
And another, what, 5 possibilities.

I think they could make a few combos work.

League doesn't allow interchangeable helmets, only one per season.

Never knew that.. thanks.
Though, I'm guessing that doesn't count when they do throw-back unis as I'm fairly certain I've seen those change scheme during the year.

I could be wrong.

What did you want the colors to be, hot pink? Anyway, I think the our new color rush uniforms loom awesome and the fact that they match with our helmets make it that much better!

Nope. 1 helmet per player per season, regardless of uniform set-up. It's safety based.

Believe it started in 2013.

I thought I had seen some different color helmets during the past seasons, not sure if it was before 2013 tho (link)

I'm not saying they look bad :)
I just was expecting something more intense since it has "rush" in the name.

battle red uniform feels more exciting than the color rush one, at least to me :)
but I am probably one of the few that actually liked the all red uniforms

I covered this in the All Emcomoassing Texans thread but teams are allowed to paint and decal their helmets but that's on them and their staff. It's just a lot of work in a small amount of time.

Doesn't Notre Dame repaint their helmet every week? I know they have a bunch of volunteers but we could make it happen.

I'd like to see a white helmet with our decal on there.
I just think it would look cool.

Anyway...

The whole, 'There can be only one helmet per player' is a cop out but I can't figure out why. What purpose does this achieve?
Players can change helmets during the year for comfortability or improved safety features so, why not allow several per player?
I'm pretty sure Uncle Bob can afford it.

Did you read the article? It's a safety issue per league rules. You know, the same league that has that concussion and head trauma lawsuit against them. Ref Mollywhoppers link on post #14.

NCAA does not have the same rule. Most NCAA teams have multiple helmets.

I'd offset that with a positive rep. I love the idea. How many teams have our current color scheme? Plus the white helmet would be awesome.

I think that color scheme is putrid... that color blue anyway . I'd love to see red blue & white...

White helmet with steel blue jersey and red pants

Eh, the Oilers are in the past. Let the past rest in peace. The Texans are not the Oilers and don't need to have anything to do with their color schemes that their sorry ass owner came up with. The Ravens don't wear Colts colors and I seriously doubt anyone in Baltimore would want that.

Are you being sarcastic?
I know they have a rule and read the article but that's what I'm saying, I don't see what they're trying to accomplish.

I'm glad most everyone is on my red, white and blue kick.
6 different combinations and each would look awesome.

Oh well.. probably never happen, so, waste of energy talking about it.

It's a stupid rule IMO. They think that as a player wears in a helmet it becomes safer so they don't let them change the helmet. That went into affect 2 seasons ago. Because of that rule a few teams had to do away with their throw back game. The Bucs throwback game was getting real popular here, however this rule derailed it because they can't switch to the white helmet now.

It makes zero sense.
With that line of thinking they should make players wear the same shoes all year.

I'm gonna reach and say that perhaps it has something go do with the helmet companies not kicking extra money to the NFL honchos.

The Rams went from St. Louis blue & gold helmets in week 1 to the old school LA blue & gold helmets in week 2. I assume they go back to the St. Louis B&G this week? That's a lot of painting if it's just one helmet.

They'll be a nice distraction for about 5 snaps and then everyone will be reminded how bad we suck on offense and people will hate them like the black plague.

Varsity jackets light. If they play like this past Sunday they should just wear these uniforms instead.
