If at 25 "___________" is there I would take them! (Regardless of need)

SnakeEyes

Under NRG

If this kid falls to 25, I take him. He can play S, Nickle/Dime LB (IMO) due to his size. He is a freak who will Excell at whatever position he is put at.

I know it's "regardless of need", but the Texans secondary is about as dead set as is possible in the NFL: Stingley, Lassiter, Bullock, Gardner-Johnson, Ward, and (luck be a lady) Christian Harris. Short of making quarters your base defense, I just don't see a spot where Emmanwori could play.

To answer your original question I would say: DT Mason Graham.

I would absolutely be looking to trade back into the early 2nd and get an additional early 3rd. This team has five areas (IOL, DT, WR, RB and CB depth) that need improvement, and right now they do not have enough picks to get those needs filled. Nick needs to be Nick and trade like a madman to get us at least: two 2nds, three 3rds, and a 4th so we can fill our needs.

I just think a guy like Nick E. (Not trying to spell his name lol) can play and play well at multiple positions. S, CB, Nickle/Dime LB. He could probably play an H-back type spot on offense, unsure of his route running ability. A 6' 2" 225lb 4.3 running guy flying out of the back field as an H-back is a huge mismatch for any D.

And you are correct however, it's a personal opinion as to who is the best player available. For example, either of my guys Golden or Banks can be considered better players than Emmanwori. Banks can play either tackle or either guard position . Also Mason Graham would be right there.

Where is Nick going to play? Who is he replacing?

That’s why I don’t put stock in these questions. It’s the 25th pick. There are not any sure fire guys at this point. You’re looking for guys that can help the team as constructed. Or looking to next year when an important position may open up.

Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, Ashton Jeanty. I’m changing my plans for franchise players. Other than that, I’m sticking to my plan.

This is fun because its been awhile since so many folks were so gah-gah eyed over a freaking RB !
Of those three who do you value the most and please tell me the back because I like to remind
folks that we are living in the time of the forward pass.

Jeanty is the player with most risk because of use. I would draft Jeanty if I have a Super Bowl window open or about to open.

Carter is a double digit sack guy for 10 years. He’ll get a $40+ million AAV deal on his second contract. Very valuable.

We don’t really know what a dual role player’s value will be. I think he will be a top 10 WR or a top 10 CB. Add that up and tell me what the $$$ is.

If you recall that the great offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden was drafted when the Ravens already had both starting tackles would be my que to draft the highly rated Penn State edge rusher, and have him & Will as our bookend edge rushers well into the 2030s.
After trading Danielle our cap space would really be opened up !

Wow did this exchange get screwed up by the quote placement.

As far as the hypothetical is concerned, it’s not really happening. Carter will not be at 1.5 much less 1.25. I would not be trading Hunter. Not drafting an edge at 1.25. Caserio says “We never draft for need” and everyone thinks any position is on the table. If he had the 2nd or 3rd pick, sure. But it’s 1.25. Talent is pretty much flat across positions.

If Ezeiruaku or Mike Evans is drafted @ 25 , I will then believe Nick's "we never draft for need" smoker. He certainly drafted for need in 2023 and it could be argued in 2024.
If he were to day " we are drifting the best left tackle or wide receiver or offensive guard at 25" I would hedge my bets.

Loveland would be a huge shock to be there at 25, but if so, he'd get a very long look by me. Depends on who else is there. I'd take Banks over Loveland (I think) due to positional need.

Are you asking who is our favorite player, or who could possibly fall to us?

Emmanwori imo beats out Gardner-Johnson before season over if not sooner. As with Jahdee Barron, E can start at Nickle, FS , SS and with some coaching corner. He is an amazing player. I do not expect it, but I would not be opposed to trade down if Banks, Golden and Conerly gone.
33 or 35 Emmanwori and Higgins round 2
65 or 67 Skattebo 79 Charles Grant & Kyle Williams 3.89

RB Damien Martinez Miami round 5

I agree! All of us should want another Duane Brown and he is also been compared to Tunsil but willing to run block and get into the second level.
Remember the game Brown knocked Steelers great James Harrison out of the game and broke his jaw, would Tunsil do that ? I think not, because Laramy was a finesse kinda guy, a gentle guy you know what I mean ?
Who's the best comp for Brown in this Draft ?

My concern with Emmanwori is he's more athlete than football player.

What is scary is he is both. He reminds me of Nick Bolton in KC, only faster and better in coverage. He just is a player who appears everywhere on the field. And at the end of the game you may not notice but commentators are say "wow he was everywhere again today and is leading the team in tackles".

Gardner-Johnson had the third most interceptions in the entire NFL last year with 6, I think you're underrating him by a mile. We also just drafted Bullock last year who had 5 INTs and was tied with Stingley, and Calen is only going to get better. The secondary is already going to be a nightmare for opposing QBs, without committing a 1st round pick to our teams absolute strength as a unit.

Damn, always forget how agile Brown was for his size.

Agreed, but don't forget he took 2 years before he started looking like the answer at LT. I think there are people that think a guy is going to come in and be a dominant force at left tackle... The odds of that are incredibly low for that to happen no matter who or where we pick in the draft. Heck even generational Joe Alt played RT this year.

PS. Every time I see the word generational I get a little queasy. I've decided that generational now means 1 year in modern football language for how often it gets misused.

No Tunsil wouldn't do that not because he's a finesse guy, He wouldn't do that because he would miss Harrison on the 2nd level.

Walter Jones/Orlando Pace/Tony Boselli/Trent Williams are/were generational. Alt is very good. Generational not so much.

Not convinced that his college performance isn't mainly due to being the better athlete 99% of the time.
