Next up Chiefs and the refs

DanielTx

Chosen one
Mahomes will more than likely play considering the #1 seed is still open. The Texans should play all there starters for the next 2 games. They’ve had ugly wins all season and the 2 contender games next up should be a learning/feel for, in case we face these guys in the playoffs.

7 of the Texans 9 wins has been by 1 score. I think this is more of a positive showing they know how to win close games. It can also be a bad thing because they only have 2 signature wins out of 14 games.

Dolphins and Titans are tied for 25th in sacks and both of those teams had 4 sacks and some pressure on Stroud. Chiefs have 11 sacks and 22 QB hits in the last three games. I’ve praised Stroud more than I critiqued him. I don’t like Strouds body language on the sideline in majority of the Texans game I watched this season. The sad, puppy face is why I keep saying this team lacks real leadership from the coaches. If every game your offense struggles and your qb is looking sad, no one is expecting you to make the Super Bowl.

Game outcome: I think the Texans have a shot to win if Slowik sticks with a pass first offense like the previous Miami game. Of course the line has to block so it will be a tough task against a stout chiefs defense. Not to mention the refs will be involved. Texans are 6th in penalties going against the 24th most penalized team. I think the chiefs are way more advanced than what it looks like on the screen. I’m pretty sure they take advantage of every loophole to beat the system. I think there so advanced, they practice how to draw pass interferences unlike 31 other teams.

Sum it up:
Undisciplined team + poor o line + inconsistent oc + elite defense
Vs
Disciplined team + average o line + great oc + elite defense =
27 chiefs Texans 23

Texans defense has a good track record against great QBs. Josh Allen, Jordan Love, Jared Goff, Tua meh. Let’s see what happens.

Early look at the forecast (subject to change) is sunny skies and mid 30's at kickoff.

Cold yes, but not so cold that it will have a major impact, especially if it's sunny. The sun makes a big difference on a cold day.

No wind forecast yet, but a light breeze or better yet...calm winds would also help.

In short, the weather should not be a detriment.

I know this may be unpopular, but with the 2 games in 4 days (playing the Ravens and Chiefs), I almost want them to run a very vanilla game plan because it's almost a certainty that we're going to see them in the playoffs. Why let them get tape on us? Maybe they will try to do the same thing to us? Andy Reid and John Harbaugh are excellent HCs and I wouldn't put it past either one of them to keep some powder dry for the post season.

Who cares about winning regular season games? I don't. We've seen enough success in the regular season, I want post season success. If that means we rest guys or don't bust out all the plays we have available to us so be it.

Quoted this for the Tua part…
All this guy does is throw bubble screens and quick slants. Then the speedsters get to work. He throws picks when throwing more than 10 or 15 yards in the air! I don’t think he’s that good.
And Allen looked like hot garbage against our D.

It’s a little late in the year to be worried about putting things on film for future opponents. Not sure why Slowik hasn’t called “the secret stuff” quite yet given the performance of his offense.

Play your best game and worry about the playoffs when you get there.

Chiefs are in the playoffs, they’d be fools to risk a gimpy Mahomes against the Texans defense. Texans defense hits hard and a gimpy Mahomes could be a sitting duck…for target practice if he can’t avoid the rush.

How can they be more vanilla than they already are?

If MaHomes is healthy we lose. If MaHomes misses the game or is playing hampered with an injury, we can win. Maybe. And four days after that we play the Ravens. LOL
Even a healthy Mahomes hasn’t been good this season. He’s been pressured and hit a lot just like CJ. Why you think their offense hasn’t been putting up big time numbers. He thrown for over 300 twice and can comes to 300 another 2 times. He’s been sacked 35 times and threw 11 interceptions so far. Their defense hasn’t been pretty good. If we could limit the silly mistakes, we could beat a healthy Mahomas. Imo

Just as support for this

The Chiefs’ offense stinks with him — forget what it would look like without him.

Mahomes completed exactly half of 38 passes Sunday, the lowest completion percentage in a game in his career. He totaled just 4.2 yards per pass attempt, the second-lowest mark of his career. And just as noticeable in person, he frequently bypassed an open receiver in favor of another.

“I just gotta do a better job of going through my progressions and trusting the offense,” he said. “Getting the ball out of my hands and letting guys make plays.

“My nature is to make the big play happen. Sometimes defenses stop that. When it’s not there, go for the underneath stuff and keep it moving. (It’s) something I have to get better on going toward the playoffs.”

Agreed,

Mistakes? You mean like the FG team being offsides?

The Chiefs are still the Chiefs. However I see similarities with us in that they haven't necessarily been an offensive juggernaut and their defense seems to be doing most of the heavy lifting. I am not going to be surprised if we lose. However, I do think we have a shot at eeking out a win as well.

Maybe he's saving it for the playoffs or "must win" games?

More than the schemes, I think I worry more about some of our guys that are a little banged up take more in game punishment (when we could rest them some or all of the game). Mixon didn't look great after being the second drop hip tackle that the zebras didn't call a penalty on. I would like Mixon to be fresh in the playoffs. And WAJ or Foley or any of the other guys that seem to be hampered a little bit by their injuries. We're going to need all hands on deck to get out of the wild card round, let alone the Divisional round or dare I say beyond that. Some of these guys can completely change and win games for us. I want them ready to go when the lights are the brightest.

No Sir !
The Chiefs are not the Chiefs without Patrick MaHomes in the lineup.

Mahomes said he's pleased with the progress his injured right ankle has made since he suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday's 21-7 win over the Cleveland Browns. He said this injury isn't as severe as a similar one he received in a 2022 divisional round playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I guess the Chiefs really have made a deal with the devil. Mixon misses 3 1/2 games with a high ankle sprain and Mahomes is back at it on a short week?

16 - Houston Texans (LW: 16) - Congrats to the Texans on winning the Mid Bowl and establishing themselves as THE most mediocre team in the NFL.

Power ranking today..This is how some outlets view the Texans

Why did Settle choose this week to provide bulletin board material?

“We got an elite D-line. Pat’s a little banged up, so I don’t know if he gonna play or not, but I hope he’s mobile enough because we comin’ to Arrowhead. Pat better make good decisions. I ain’t making no threats, I’m making promises.”

2 or 3 games ago, I'm not sure which, Settle had a great QB sack with a celebration. The announcer made a crude comment about someone named Tim Settle was over celebrating his achievement. MAKE SURE THEY REMEMBER YOUR NAME, TIM!

Yeah but at least it’s better than letterman jackets.

It does not work to your advantage to announce you are going after the QB aggressively. The refs will watch closer and call more penalties. As if they don't already protecting the KC Swifties.

Texans should be in playoff mode. Next two games are against playoff teams.

No Quarter.
Sort of. Can't be playing guys that could aggravate injuries. Everyone else, play your arse of. But save some of the good plays for the actual playoffs.
If Mixon re-aggravated his high ankle sprain than I would sit him.
Mixon and anyone else that is questionable.

We can go after quarterback aggressively and not break the rules.

Reid said Mahomes took a full practice workload Thursday, the Chiefs' final session of the week. He also was a full practice participant in the Tuesday and Wednesday practices.

"He did look good out there,'' Reid said. "He moved around pretty good. So, you're always looking to make sure they can get out the way, not to further any harm to them. So that's what I look at.

The Texans second-string running back, Dameon Pierce, has 15 carries all year. Stroud, who only runs when he absolutely has to, is the second-leading rusher on this team.

The misfortunes at running the ball for the Texans, and maybe the offense in general, were avoidable. Nobody thought retaining Pierce was a good idea. and it's been known for a long time the Texans lacked road graders on the line.

Mixon is THE running game. If he's out for the playoffs, so are the Texans. I don't think the Texans can beat the Chiefs with no running game, just like they won't beat anyone in the playoffs without him.

Correct. Mixon got injured last week and plays were called for him the very next series. Makes no sense smh. Hes going play but the Texans should be focusing on opening the pass game before the playoffs. Depending solely on run won’t work in the playoffs.
