OptimisticTexans Soon To Be Last Mock…

OptimisticTexan

2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
I did this Mock with the idea….Higgins stock is going up at a greater rate than Jackson’s.

I kept 25 and made a move for the 38th pick b/c I don’t expect Jackson to slip past 40….if he slides out of RD1.

If these events played out, I had to proposition NE. It cost me 236, 2026 RD1, and 2026 RD4. Personally, I think this deal isn’t nearly this costly, but the PFN Mock didn’t allow it to go done any other way.

I believe the flipping of Higgins with Jackson confused the simulator b/c for the first time recently, Henderson was on the board and there was no way I would’ve bypassed that addition.

Kiser will be a steal at 166 once he’s on the field. Simmons may also be one of those RD7 steals. What he lacks in conditioning is exactly what I expect Ryans to rectify asap so this guy is a rotational DT by GM1.

Interesting idea getting essentially two first round talents this year and hoping next year’s first is 32 as a consequence of the bold move.

I would say I’d rather get a DT than Thornton at 89. I highly doubt a 7th round DT makes this team. Much less earns snaps game 1.

See: Marcus Harris last season who was a better prospect than Simmons.

Give me this, touchdown makers and top of the line OL. Throw in a really good coverage LB and this team just became a true contender.

2025 is a deep DL draft and it’ll be hard to pinpoint which athletes succeed at the next level and those that wont.

If Simmons could come in with a chip on his shoulder b/c of draft location….it might motivate him to take DeMeco’s advice and coaching. The conditioning coach will have his work ahead of him. If both are successful….Texans will have a nice big body run stuffer who has the strength to push the pocket.

Who are you cutting on this roster for him?

I’m not down for trading a future first for unproven talent. But do I like the guys here? Yes, for this year this is a very good draft. Adding in what you gave up next year, it’s a C+. I just can’t get down with giving up next years first. Those are too valuable.

I did add the caveat, that I didn’t think the actual cost would be this high in a real trade scenario. The simulator seems to make initiating a trade very costly versus it offering a trade that also seems completely impeachable.

So you’re drafting a guy you don’t think can make this team? We just have philosophical differences. If you don’t think they have a solid chance of making the team, they aren’t worth drafting.

If you want to address the position, address it with a more talented player in an earlier round imo.

He’s a RD7 pick with some upside. One of the biggest concerns facing him is his conditioning. I truly believe this is something Ryans and DL Coach Wright can correct. At 6-1 and 336 pounds, the guy has the size for DT. He can hold his own in the trenches and with proper coaching could become a solid run stuffer.
