What he said.Let’s go
I wonder how much of what he did with McVay he’ll actually bring. I doubt he’s going to try to be McVayMeh on the selection but glad they made a decision. As a first timer in this role, I wonder if he'll have a whisperer for added support.
Of the available people with play calling experience, who were you interested in?If/Can he bring Kromer to be the new Oline coach?
Wished he had experience calling plays, but hopefully he learned something with McVay
At least he won’t be adding too many new concepts & terminology
If it’s executed well & it just doesn’t work, or looks milqtoast & futile I blame the OC. If it isn’t executed cleanly, blown assignments, lined up wrong, two or more receivers in an area, I blame the guys in the huddle.Well, at least we know now who we'll be blaming the play calling on this season.![]()
That's just it, and I'm about to sound a touch hypocritical; but excluding Chip Kelly (who I don't think was ever an option) I like Caley over the guys with play calling experience (Nixon, who I'm pretty sure was the only interviewee with exp). Might be more a fear of the unknown...again.Of the available people with play calling experience, who were you interested in?
C’mon… John Carroll Mafia babyNot a fan of the hire, but I hope he proves me wrong. His experience seems like Slowik 2.0, minus the PFF stint.
Shouldn't they have hired a WR coach than? (j/k but I see Fannin as just a big WR and not a TE)Huh, a tight end Coach. I was hoping more for a quarterback type but hey, maybe they will go hard after Harold Fannin a guy I like.

Yes it is.. here we come ready or not.“Nick” “C”aley and “Nick” “C”aserio have more than their first name and first letter in their last name in common.
Both went to John Carroll University.
Both Nick’s were with the Patriots when they were on top of the hill.
I suspect these guys know each other pretty well and Caley has plenty of experience at 42 years old. He’s still coaching TE’s up, but he added passing game coordinator to his resume with the Rams. Rams had a nice season.
Maybe it’s time for his shot.
I totally agree on Fannin but I guess this guy is as close as it comes to a passing Guru. I was more interested in an quarterback expert. I guess Johnson will hang around for that?Shouldn't they have hired a WR coach than? (j/k but I see Fannin as just a big WR and not a TE)
And if we had hired McVay, I would be very excited. He was a passing game coordinator too.
The McVay tree hasn’t been a disappointment.
And McVay does make adjustments to his game plan if it isn’t working.
So hopefully Caley learned that too.
There are similarities in that Caley started out as a defensive coach (10 years at 7 schools) before moving to the NFL as an offensive coach (8 seasons in New Egland, 2 with the Rams). Caley turned down the Patriots OC gig last year, and the Jets OC this cycle. Caley has been picky and he has picked the Texans as much as they've picked him. I'm ready to see what he's got.Not a fan of the hire, but I hope he proves me wrong. His experience seems like Slowik 2.0, minus the PFF stint.
He certainly had Nick's recommendation. Cole Popovich also worked with Caley for 5 seasons in New England. Would not be surprised to see him return as offensive line coach. He has joint background with the other Nick C. in New England which leads to that the GM had some say in this manner.
He has never been an offensive coordinator and has never called plays. I like the McVay roots though
And watching rams games puka and kupp and the TEs are wide open lots of the time. Not a whole bunch of contested catchesGotta start somewhere, he’s worked under two pretty good OC’s for quite some time.
We’ll see if this proves to be right, but if Jerrod stays in the building as QB coach then it makes sense that CJ gets to keep the guy he likes in his ear and the OC isn’t someone who’s going to clash with that job also.Huh, a tight end Coach. I was hoping more for a quarterback type but hey, maybe they will go hard after Harold Fannin a guy I like.
I would have preferred an experienced guy who wasn't going anywhere. Most folks seemed to be saying we needed an older more experienced type OC who also had
head coaching experience, but without even any OC background at all this looks like we had to settle on a leftover.
But who knows maybe this guy is very talented, an excellent teacher & communicator who clicks immediately with CJ while developeing a very close and positive relationship.
I dunno I wonder if the Rams offense is radically or just marginally different from what CJ has become accustomed to playing in the last couple years here in Houston?
️ “Yeah, I’m a big super fan of his [Sean]. The type of scheme he runs, the way he calls it, the way he uses his guys in motion, and just a whole bunch of different things. He seems like a good guy and he just had some tips and pointers. Also showed me a lot of love, which I appreciate, but I appreciate him more than he knows.
Just watching film, not even knowing him, just like getting better at the stuff that he does in that offense along with [QB] Matt [Stafford] and those guys. So, it’s definitely just an honor just to know that he knows me, which is dope
It's radically different. The entire playbook is in Vulcan.. Here's one play.I dunno I wonder if the Rams offense is radically or just marginally different from what CJ has become accustomed to
You need to charge your phone.
Again, I think it's the heat. Doesn't matter who our HC/OC is, his experience, his philosophy, we run on 1st down.. So the question will be can this guy adjust and show some flexibility in his play calling instead of run up the middle every first down until we have a third and long. That’s not to mention the pass protection scheme which for us just didn’t exist consistently…. At all
That's the work phone, I treat it like a hammerYou need to charge your phone.
Wish he could bring Puca along with him..If/Can he bring Kromer to be the new Oline coach?

Coaching for 20 some odd years, wasn't that David Culley?
Well he's got that going for himNot a fan of the hire, but I hope he proves me wrong. His experience seems like Slowik 2.0, minus the PFF stint.
