Charlie Weis To Kansas

How does this guy keep getting jobs? Has he won anywhere besides the Patriots, with Belicheat, and Brady?

He won in his one year with the Chiefs - and it looks all that much better considering how they've looked the year after he left.

But no, he's got no chance to succeed as HC for Jayhawks.

Just for fun I went back to that 2010 KC season. They went 10-6 and won their division. On closer inspection they had a VERY weak schedule. Only won 3 of their 10 wins on the road.

Rams (7-9)
Seahawks (7-9)
Browns (5-11)

And look at their home wins.

Chargers (Slow starters) (9-7)
49ers (6-10)
Jaguars (8-8)
Bills (4-12)
Cardinals (5-11)
Broncos (4-12)
Titans (6-10)

Their opponents were a combined 61/160.

The Cheifs were promptly destroyed in the playoffs in Arrowhead by the Ravens, 30-7.

I think we can smash the idea that he did well in KC.

Well, you can only play the teams on your schedule, and results mean alot to me, but most stuff is subjective, so I'm not gonna argue. I do know however that the other than the Hail Mary pass at the end of the 1st half of the Bears game, the last TD the Chiefs scored was three games ago (week 10), and most KC fans would love to have Charlie back.

You dont want to argue, then you go into your argument.

I wasnt arguing. Just stating a fact.

Denver, San Diego, & Oakland had similar schedules. 14 of the 16 games were probably identical. 6 from the division, 4 from whatever AFC Conference they played, 4 from whatever NFC conference they played, with only two games different.

I like to play the schedule game too, but in this context, they were much better than the Broncos, and did enough to beat out the Raiders (8-8 I think) & the Chiefs (9-7).

By the way, we lost to the same Broncos (Tebow) & Chargers.

Wasn't that also his first year in KC?

Wish him the best. The 5th year players graduating from Notre Dame could possibly join him since they were recruited by him. I could definitely see at least Dayne Crist going there to run the offense he was originally supposed to be in charge of since he's already said he is going to transfer

That is exactly my point. The entire division was crap. San Diego was the only team worth a damn and they still managed to lose 7 games. The bottom line is that Todd Hailey did not do well in KC. He was the smartest guy in remedial math.

Look, Weis is a great hire for KU.

We just had to endure 2 years of Turner Gill. We DO actually care about more than just basketball.

Our old AD, Lew Perkins had worked a deal with Harbaugh to coach us, and that fell through because he wanted to coach his bowl game. Yes, there is actual proof of what I just said. We ended up with Gill after this, and he took the program to lows that you can't even imagine. He basically turned KU football into a national joke and a team that made the record books for all the wrong reasons. The one BCS team he beat (Colorado after a ridiculous 4th quarter comeback) fired their coach the next day. That's where Kansas football is at.

Now, we just hired a coach who has instant name recognition and is associated with some of the best names in the game. He can walk into any recruits living room and show them his 4 Super Bowl rings. We've had two 5* QB transfers visit us this week alone and the #1 HS QB now has us on his short list and is thinking about a visit. You're really trying to tell me this is a bad hire?

Notre Dame will never be what they were. The expectations are just too high and it's not a job I believe many people can be successful at. It's like KU basketball. Very, very few coaches can meet the expectations of the job. The ones who do become legendary like Phog Allen, Larry Brown, Roy Williams, and now Bill Self. I don't think anyone is going to meet the expectations for Notre Dame, and I don't think that makes someone a bad coach.

Weis knows offense. He's going to be calling the plays. On simple name value alone this hire is worth it. Kansas football just went from being the disgrace Turner Gill made us and has gotten national attention. I mean, for Christ's sake we're talking about this hire on a Texans message board.

I think its a great fit because he knows how to run an offense and can coach a QB up.

QB play drives the Big XII conference and I think given that he can eventually compete.

I'm really happy for KU and even happier that the Big XII just got another shot in the arm. For a conference that was on its death bed for the second time in two years it looks like it's headed toward stability finally can possibly cement itself as the second best conference with the great additions of TCU and WVU.

Dude's a lucky man. First Mike & Molly now this.
