NFL Draft countdowns 2007 Mock Draft

That is unless for some reason Adrian Peterson falls.

That would be nice...But Im hoping that we can go DB in the first, and pick up a running back in the second...like Bush, or Lynch...just off the top of my head...

I agree

Hey if we didn't get a 1st round RB this year, we aint gettin one next year.

I wouldn't count on that. We didn't get a 1st round RB this year but it wasn't for lack of trying. Carolina just stepped in front of us and got the guy we wanted. If we'd managed to get DeAngelo Williams I wonder which of our many excellent picks wouldn't be here now? No DeMeco Ryans? No Eric Winston? I'm personally happy with the draft we had but we did try to make a move for a RB in the later first round.

If Davis doesn't make it through most of this season healthy and nobody else catches on fire I expect us to attempt to get another good RB next year and if need be we'll go for it in the first round.

Doubtful that Lynch falls to the second round, but one can hope.

I thought Buffalo screwed us. Weren't we in talks with the Bears for their pick, but they ended up trading with Buffalo who took McCargo. Carolina then had Williams fall into their lap. They didn't trade up for him.

Something along those lines. I honestly don't remember the specifics but I know we were after Chicago's pick and didn't get it. Carolina took the guy we wanted (Williams) and that was that. Now that I think about it I believe you're right. I remember everyone going "McCargo? What?"

I wonder who ESPN will be hyping up the most this next year. Easy choices are Brady Quinn and Adrian Peterson. They will be dubbed "once in a lifetime" prospects. Sounds quite similar.........

My bet is on Teddy Gin Jr. or Lynch.

Interesting ...acording to this guy, Landry isn't even the top Safety prospect.
This isn't going to another VY man-love thing this year is it ?

They have us taking Joe Thomas at the fourth pick...1) I don't think we'll be drafting that hight 2) an offensive lineman ???

The guys who do these are often projecting highest need. Nationally, until our oline performs these guys will pretty much believe the highest need is OL, specifically OT. It does not matter that we just drafted two on the first day and employ a system that may not put a priority on drafting Olmen extremely high.

My money is also on Ted Gin Jr. I think he is going to have a huge season and ESPN loves explosive playmakers.

He is one of the fastest players that I have ever seen. If he improves his route running he could be a lock for the top 3 or 5.

This time next year, if Jared Gaither of Maryland declares after his sophomore year, i would seriously look at him. I think he is Jonathan Ogden all over again. I don't think he fits our zone blocking scheme, but someone will be getting a franchise LT.

He was also recruited to play BBall too at South Carolina. Dude is a monster, im telling you, u thought the Brick was good, he's even better.

I don't understand how they say "failed experiment" for Pitts at LT.. I thought he did good. But we all know that guard is his future.. I guess I just dont' see how Pitts is the weak link in the line even if it was at LT

I'm on this band wagon. You're preachin' to the choir. Won't argue with the need at DB. But....we're one OL prospect from having an elite o-line. Be a real plus for us every year at draft time if the o-line was locked up and all we needed to do is look for day two prospects from here on out. Not to start mind you. But to add deepth for our starting five. Which would mean we could cherry pick the skill positions every year form here on out. Then if you wanted to take a safty #1, I'd have no problem with it. :lightbulb:

My Monster is not even starting this year. Adam Ulatoski @ Texas will be a very good starting left tackle in the NFL one day.

im thinking we will go with Laron Landry but if Domanick davis isnt healthy and doesnt get hot i wouldnt be to suprised if we get a RB

Im hoping that someone already on the team, or someone who will be added this year, proves to be a formidable starter so we don't have to "waste" a pick on running back, because I think our defense still lacks talent and unless there is a big time offensive prospect that we have a shot at in next years draft I look for us to go linebacker or Defensive Back in the first round of next years draft...

Enter Adrian Peterson, Lynch, Jarrett, Rice, Johnson.

My monster is better than yours:

Ian Symonnette from St. Pius HS who is currently playing at the U (Miami).

Unless our running back situation is just ridiculous, I don't think any of those backs are even worthy of OUR 1st rd. pick next year, besides MAYBE Peterson...:mario:

The only two of those 4 who are runningbacks are Lynch and AP :)

LOL.

The other guys are Dwayne Jarrett, WR from USC...Sidney Rice, WR from South Carolina...and Calvin Johnson, WR from Georgia Tech.

Right now, Johnson is pretty much a consensous top 3 pick, Jarrett a top 10, and if Rice returns to his form prior to his injury, he could be top 10 as well.

We should look at michael griffin from UT...he had 124 tackles last year...

I dont see an OT being picked. Spencer seems pretty good as does Winston. I would like to see AP fall, and we plick him. If that does not happen, the best DB.

Hopefully either Morency, or Lundy will step up into a full time starting role...I really don't want to have to go Running Back in the first round because I think that we can get skill players later on...i would rather us go Safety, or Linebacker with the first pick...

no no, LaRon Landry by far, they arent even in the same class. LaRon had more than 124 tackles as a true freshman!

if somehow the Texans do that poorly (picking 4th) I would trust Kubiak & Smith to trade down.........

somewhere around the 13th pick (like Texans 3rd draft- 2004 & Dunta Robinson) they grab the top CB available. in this case Leon Hall & solidify what should be one of the brightest young D's in the NFL :mario:

Who....Is.....That ?!?!?!?

I'm almost sure you're bieng facetious. But JIC[just in case].

2006 CFN Preseason Second Team All-Americans
Rufus Alexander, Sr. Oklahoma - 102 tackles, 5 sacks, 17 TFL, 1 interception, 9 broken up passes
One of the nation's best linebackers, Alexander returns after making 176 tackles over the last two seasons and leading the Sooners last year. He's big on the weakside with fantastic speed and instincts able to get into the backfield. He got bigger over the last two years and became even better against the run.

http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2006/Preview/AllAmerica_LB.htm

From Athlon: "highlighted by Rufus Alexander, Alexander roams the WSLB spot sideline to sideline...should be a contender for the Butkus Award."
6'1', 231 lbs. Sounds like Meek to me.

Garrett Hartley (Vannna I'd like to buy another "T". good greif.)

Another guy I have my eye on not #1 but maybe first pick on day two is the Oklahoma kicker, Garret Hartley. I Once saw him kick a fifty plus yarder agsainst ....Waxihachie , I believe. Cleared by eight feet. Not the bar mind you, but the top of the posts....with extreem prejudice and velocity. Not very accurate yet. Missed 8 last year. Hit a big one last year in the Red river shoot out. Just a Jr, have to hold our water on him till '08.

I agree with you on the whole kicker thing...I think brown needs to be replaced...and thanks for the info on alexander...I really didn't know who he was but I will pay closer attention to him this year...Is he projected as a first rounder ?

Yes, unless he does like Demeco did in this draft, he should be in the top 32. See what Greenwood brings to the table this season ? I'm nibbling on the "he was in the wrong defese hook". Haven't swalloed yet, but I can see the argument. We'll see vs the water bug, Westbrook. If we take him...I believe that who is he'd be slotted to replace. Every time I mention size at lineback I get blasted, we'll see. All I know is that Doctor doom, Robert Brazille(SP?) was pretty close to 250. But that was in the three-four defense. Getting use to the 4-3 myself.

When we go into the dead zone between preseason and the start of the season , I always try to catch up @ College football news. CFN's preveiws are pretty accurate. It's almost impossible to keep up with all of the programs in the top two hundred. I depend alot on cross talk on the board for the small Black school's players. The kid from TSU has a chance to be a day two pick for us. Simply from the fact that he fits coach K's profile. I'd just as soon have him as the "STud" rb. Spend the money elswhere. But I scrafice the SWAC guys to keep up with the others. They have very tallented athletes in that conference, who's players for want of grades or other circumstances, get passed over by the big boys. Those guys make better pros prospects because they've had to fight for recognition and appreciate it more. Three years is a long time to feed 'em and work 'em. Some times they pass the elite guys by.

But goin to CFN in the dead zone gives me a selection on which teams to watch or record for the upcoming College season. I really do Miss Joel Bushbaum. How he did it pre computers and internet is mind boggeling. If he gave a guy five stars the guy was a lock. Several teams I always make a point of watching are Baylor, Vanerbilt, Boston College, Fresno ST., they always put players into trianing camps. U of H looks very interesting this year also.

We'll see this weekend. He lays another egg in Austin, he'll be awhile getting up.
