NFL Network's Charles Davis Mock Draft

Charles you doofus. He does know we're trying to contend for a playoff spot next year right? How does this help us at all?
 
I agree with you. You don't trade back up QB for a 4th and then use you #15 on a QB. That's crazy.
 
Wow, dumb. I saw one the other day that had the Texans taking Percy Harvin to compliment AJ...WR is not their need and I was wondering who did it....here it is

seems to me these guys are using the BPA strategy of picking in the draft b/c anyone who watched us any at all last year knows that we are 99% going defense in the 1st round.
 
Just for gits and shiggles, let's say that Sanchez was still available there. In that case my mock would have the Texans trading down with a team like the Jets, Bucs or even the Vikings.

Really, like we're going to waste our first round pick on a QB and Sanchez at that as if he looks to be some 30 TD a year kind of guy that is a can't miss.

This guy clearly isn't that informed with the NFL to predict that Smith will take Sanchez.

well honestly, sanchez has all the tools to be a 30 TD guy, the big knock on him however is that he's a 1 year wonder & probably isn't ready just yet.

Why would the Vikings trade a 4th for Rosenchopper and then trade up with us to get Sanchez?

Jets, BEars and Bucs I could see doing it.

Well they definitely have a hole at the slot for the Texans #2QB....as of Thursday night. I don't see anyone I'd give a fifteen for at Qb in this class.

And if Sanchez is still on the board at fifteen ... and they are looking to move back.... pretty good scenario for us. Don't you think they'd pick a switch and a day one or high day two pick and someone's 2010 one under this scenario ? I mean what did Baltimore give up to get Flacco ? I pretty much agree they will pick a young guy and sign a free agent veteran. But this mock isn't necessarily bad for us.

I saw Davis' mock shorlty after it was posted, and I thought this guy needs lot's of clues. The last thing we need is a QB with the 15th pick. And if we were looking for a QB there, I wouldn't want Sanchez.
 
Texans trade down, no problem (if Detroit takes Stafford #1 that only increases Sanchez value).

Curry is a much safer pick than Orakpo

Crabtree to Raiders

Jenkins falls out of top 10, this is where Orakpo goes

Alphonso Smith moving up makes sense
 
Don't see this happening though I would like to see Sanchez fall to us at 15 for a possible trade back. I don't think Sanchez is elite or a guy I'd want at the helm for my team but it's possible some team gets sold on him as that guy.

I think hack is a bit much. He just isn't a very good mock draft guy. IIRC, his mock last year was a bit different. And then again he's second chair to Mike Mayock. What's he supposed to do ? Regurgitate everything Mayock posts ? And just for the record....he was the first guy I know of to put Robert Ayers name on the radar as a high end prospect.

Well, on the NFLN, Mayock was saying the Lions needed to take Curry first.

And Davis was saying that they should follow the Falcon template and take Stafford with the first and then have Andre Smith drop to them at 20. ??? Like Smith is going to drop to 20! The guy needs to work a little more on his logic. He seems to know a lot about the players but he doesn't seem to be able to put things together very well.
 
Yeah pencil neck, I'm thinking someone has to play bad cop to Mayock's good cop. I know Davis isn't the sharpest tack in the box. But he's honest and he loves the game. I'll take that any day. I mean they got two pages of discussion out of our little group.
 
Two big problems I see with Davis' mock draft...

1. Obviously Texans will not take Mark Sanchez. (Doesn't need to be explained over and over again)
2. I don't see the Packers taking Jenkins with Raji still on the board. Raji could anchor their new 3-4 defense.
 
Ahh...I love mock draft season. Everyone's an expert if they're on TV with a mock draft.

He could have come on this board and realised how much of a stupid idea it was that the Texans would even consider taking Sanchez. Good jolly.

There is more chance of Andre Smith not doing anything else stupid before the draft than us taking any QB in the first round.

I also can't imagine the Jags using their 1st round pick on a back-up either, but who knows
