This dude is a straight up dirty football player. I just watched the Auburn-Georgia game and he was hitting the QB late over and over. He even went for Murray's knee when the game was already won, there was no need for that. The Georgia bench lost their mind. The whole offensive line went after him on the next play. And Fairley starts doing this dance and taunt, what a f'n hoodlum. Get off the field. They should have ejected him.

This isn't the first time. I watched a game earlier in the season and the guy was playing dirty in that game as well, even though it wasn't as dirty as this game.

Second coming of Albert Haynesworth. The GA offensive line should have stomped on his face.
 
Texans are definitely gonna have to draft another DT in the first or second around. No pressure up the middle is what is killing us.

weird i was watching and thought to myself. WOW I wish he was on our team haahhaha :wadepalm:
 
I watched that game. While he WAS hitting late, I wouldn't call it dirty. There towards the end, I felt like a lot of the "knee shot" was a result of him being blocked by the offensive lineman. Fairley dove forward to knock the QB down and was blocked... I don't think he was intentionally trying to go for a knee and hurt the QB.

I didn't really see him get blocked, or knocked down. The offensive lineman didn't even extend his arms. Sure the offensive lineman was there, but what I saw was a dive at the knees, and he hit Murray straight in the knee. His reaction afterward was proof enough that he doesn't care if he injures or plays dirty. The guy is doing some goofy taunt.

I'm telling you, this is Albert Haynesworth #2.

Look at this video. You tell me. Plenty of dirty shots to go around.

You can't pick QB's up and slam them down like that in the NFL. It's legal right now in the NCAA, but it won't be next year. That's unnecessary. Your just trying to hurt people when you do that. Look at the hit where he puts his helmet into Murray's back way late. How can you defend that? Seriously?

Look at the play where he hits Murray's knee. The offensive lineman is blocking him away from Murray. Fairley dives into Murray's knee. It's pretty clear to me.

Dirty hoodlum and I am sticking to it. I say hoodlum because of the way he is taunting. I say dirty because of the way he is intentionally trying to hurt people.

I saw one bad hit. When he hit the Georgia qb late in the back. Other than that I saw an agressive defender tackling how he had been taught.

The hit on the knee did not seem to be intentional. Not like Allen's hit on Schaub.

I see him diving for the knee. The offensive lineman is not blocking him into Murray, so the fact that Fairley gets to Murray is from his own movement. In the NFL that's a fine.

The other hits aren't exactly late, but the QB doesn't have the ball anymore and he is driving the QB to the ground. You don't see alot of defenders do that anymore. In the NFL they fine people for that, because that's how QBs get injured.

What about picking a QB up and slamming him into the ground. Just because the NCAA hasn't made the rule that the NFL already made doesn't mean it isn't dirty. Same can be said about driving the QB into the ground as he did Murray twice.

My point is that his INTENTIONS are to hurt the QB, not to get him on the ground or sack him. He wants to hurt the QB. It's dirty IMO.

How often do you see an entire offensive line go for one player, or how often do you see an entire team, coach included, get that upset about one player's actions? How often do you see so many questionable hits from a guy in one game?

I think it's obvious he is trying to hurt Murray. The hit in the back is way late. He isn't barely hitting Murray late, he is driving his helmet into Murray's back.

And isn't that how defenders are taught from Pop Warner league? Not neccessarily to hurt the qb, but to aggressively tackle and put him down?

Aggressively dive for the QB's knee after he throws the ball? I don't know what kind of Pop Warner football you have been around, but that's not how I have ever seen it taught.

Look at the video. It's obvious as can be. Murray throws the ball, Fairley has his head up. Fairley then puts his head down and makes two steps that counter the OL's block, leaves his feet, and his helmet ends up in Murray's knee.

I can understand hitting a QB a little after the ball is thrown, you know knock him down, make him know your there. But not full on tackle, hug, and drive his head/shoulder into the ground after he throws it. Or launch your helmet into his back after he throws it. Or dive for his knee after he throws it.

Straight up dirty.

I'm sorry, I'm just not seeing it that way. It looks to me like Fairley is pushing past the OL, beats his man but looses his balance with an assist and runs into the qb's knee.

Granted, if I was a Georgia fan or an Auburn hater, I would probably see things your way...:D

Agree to disagree. Don't see any loss of balance.

The guy is a fantastic football player, but he plays dirty. I don't hate Auburn or love Georgia. My cousin actually went to Auburn and I have rooted for the team in the past. I root for Georgia when they play Florida every year. This is an observation from an un-biased party here.

Cool. I can understand you viewpoint, and actually thought the same for a bit. But I think he is just an over agressive player that plays with a mean streak. The Texans could use someone like him.

We have too many "nice guys" and not enough SOBs...

Yea, I agree the Texans need an aggressive player or two. However, this guy isn't what I consider simply aggressive.

I've only seen Auburn play three times this year, and I never noticed Fairley before this year so I haven't seen alot of him.

Of course we can agree to disagree.

Detroit Lions will not pick up Nick Fairley's option for 2015
General manager Martin Mayhew announced the news Monday over lunch at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Orlando. He's in town for the annual NFL owners meetings.

He said the move is intended motivate Fairley to perform his best on a more consistent basis.

The Lions selected Fairley in the first round of the 2011 draft and held a $5.5 million option for 2015. But "I have to ask myself, is he a $5.5 million player right now?" Mayhew said. "There are some performances where he is, and some performances where he's not..."

Eh , he would likely cost too much with the Texans rather limited cap space they have to go after bargain types rather than spending it all at once.

Putting money off in future years is also pretty much out of the question as they will have young guy's to pay soon , #99 being one of them.
