Bryce Young vs CJ Stroud

As soon as Flores took over, what happened? They traded their 2 best players correct? Tunsil and Micah. They won 5 games , then 9 and 10 before he was fired. The Bengals had been sucking for awhile remember? They draft Burrough, he gets hurt. The next year, the get Chase and are inthe superbowl. Chase has missed most of the season this year and they're hot as a firecracker. This is year 2 and there isn't anything close to competing for the playoffs. People on this board talking 5 years? C'mon
The Texans don't have Burrow and Chase.

Unfortunately those guys aren't in this draft. So this should be a trenches draft.

Mixon wasn't a high pick and Williams has been trash. 3 years , your team shouldn't still be in shambles. Say what you will about Flores, but that team was bad before he took over and in 3 years they won 24 games despite having a qb issue in which the #5 pick missed almost entire rookie season. They traded Tunsil and Micah, 2 pro bowl/all pro players for picks and they still won 10 and 9 games. A rebuild doesn't take 5 years in a year to year league,
Mixon was picked at the top of the 2nd rd. He fell because he laid hands on a girl. He definitely was a 1st rd talent. He's the kind of guy who will never be a Texan. Same with Hill.

Doesn’t matter if he was a high pick…he was there on the roster already and proven to be a top level player. Again im asking you, Outside of DW4, who was here on this roster that NC could’ve immediately traded and got a top pick for to help speed up this turn around? Doesnt even have to be a 1st, what player on this roster could’ve fetched premium draft picks? Tunsil is literally the only guy who could’ve fetched a 3rd…..maybe his contract likely would’ve prevented that tho. Next guy is probably Cooks…best would’ve probably been a 4th…next guy after him was probably Reid…but he was about to be a FA, noone was giving up much of anything for a guy about to hit FA in a year…who hasn’t even made a PB.

So….no guys that we could’ve traded for premium draft capital…& hardly no talent on the roster to begin with. How on earth then can you have expected NC & co. to have had this team turned around trending up with that…plus a **** cap situation deterring FA moves to add better players……and limited draft capital deterring adding YOUNGER & CHEAPER talent? there was literally nothing he could do the 1st year lol…nothing that would’ve mattered in the grand scheme anyway.

3rd for a probowl lt? I know for sure Cooks could've yielded a 2nd. For the record, I wouldn't have traded either, but I wouldn't have extended Cooks either. He cut Cunningham and didn't get anything for him, yet restructures David Johnson. Cannon was a waste of money and space along with redoing Lawson then cutting him. Miami was in dire straights and so were the Bengals and I don't see any 5 year plans.

That is a fairly quick turnaround. If its 1 team I know fairly well are the Bengals. My cousin was a 1st rd pick of the team in the 90s. Spent alot of time around that team in general. Bengals went from 2-14, to 4-11-1,to 10-7 to a team that probably will win 11 games with Chase missing alot of games. That's why I said 3 years is how long it takes to get on track. At the current pace, the Texans are another 3 years from even being decent.
Sorry for your cousin. The 90's Bengals sucked more than any sports franchise in a 10 year period. Hope he has recovered from all the suckage.
That being said, I love my Bengals. I've been a fan since I was very young in the early 70's.
There's a lot of luck involved however. It might be able to be done in 3 years, but I don't think that's the case more often than not.
Much depends on those first round picks not busting out. God knows the Bears are kicking themselves with Trubiskey over Mahomes in 2017.
Either way around, I just want to see the Texans make good on their picks in the upcoming years. They are my #2 team without a doubt.

Mahomes and Watson plus they SF drafted Thomas who was a bust also. SD missed the boat too, but they got it right with Herbert.

Pretty sure the Texans will draft Young, I read it in a magazine in the checkout line at Wal-Mart. A proven reliable source.

Personally I think they should focus on finding the best MLB and draft him. Any idea who that might be?

No apologies needed. He played 10 years, made great money and is very healthy at 54 yrs old. I got to hang with Darnay Scott, Carl Pickens and a few of those guys.

Derrick?

I would say they dodged a bullet.
All those teams in the top 10 could've had either and there were teams in drafting that could've pulled the trigger. We didn't know Rivers was washed in 2017? Shanny and Lynch tried to build the trenches the 1 st year and drafted Solomon Thomas who is on his 3rd or 4th team as the #3 overrall pick. Fournette at 4, Jamal Adams with the Jets, John Ross with Cincy. All those teams missed on whatever choice you like. The only 1 close was Myles Garrett because he's an all pro.

Sanders is more of an edge type rusher from when I watched him. I like him, but MLB isn't his thing. They might want to go get Wolf Hunter from Cowboys even though his back is a concern.
All the services I've looked at show him as an ILB. I've never watched film on him myself

Regardless position, this should be a vision draft. What is the Texans vision and how do they accomplish it? If it were me, it would be to trade down, add to draft war chest, leverage, leverage leverage and let other teams make mistakes before committing. Still want Stroud but also want to be greedy.

Gotta have a trade partner, I think Young and Stroud may be in demand so a trade could happen. I wouldn't trade down below the Panthers though.

What I could see happening is Caserio picking Anderson or Carter 1-1 and then trading back into the top 8 using picks 1-12 and 2-32 plus 4-103 for Levis. Thoughts?

there is growing awareness around front offices that is spreading to even historically poor ran franchises of the past, just wish it didn’t skip us:toropalm:

By that I mean, passing on more talented prospects, teams will more than likely target the Texans again and again. Wonder if they had any offers for third overall last year? We know what happened with 13th.

"Levis is the top QB on several teams boards."

Do any of these teams have a top pick? Are any of these teams looking at QB early in the draft? Levis could be the top QB on the Bill's draft board. So what? They're not taking him.

Look at the teams needing QBs. Do we really know who will be making the pick for the Texans? The Panthers or the Colts? Anonymous draft board speculation couldn't be more irrelevant right now.

This reminds me of the NBA draft that had Chet and Smith for the top pick. Smoke and mirrors.

Young was about the same height when standing next 6’ Tom Luginbill and about 2” to 3” taller than Mark Ingram who stands in at 5’9”. I’m guessing Young measures in at 5’11” to 6’.

Since both are now done it will filter down to measureables, medical, interview and private workouts. Doubt either workout @ combine and wait until respective pro days. That being said just depends on system and staff coaching which one they prefer.

I hope one good game doesn’t make people get sucked into thinking a player can perform like that all the time.

I think the Texans should still proceed with caution and not get caught up about one game.

Because Young & Stroud only had one good game each through their entire careers.

Stroud has been talked about as a potential top pick for over a year now; it is hardly one game.

This QB class is underwhelming. Many have said and are more optimistic about next year’s prospects. Stroud and Young are benefiting from the fact that their isn’t much competition.

The most recent one good game has gotten people excited like a dog and an abandoned sofa pillow.

This time last year they were saying the same thing about Stroud and Young.
Greener grass syndrome.
Still, I think Stroud can be a good upgrade over Mills with a credible chance to improve under some competent coaching.
This is true of 95% of all rookies.
