2016 Roster Moves/Transactions

Im sure he wouldnt mind it, but if the deal is being held up because he rather have the money then he really doesnt want to be a Bronco. He has never come out and said it, but you can gather that he doesnt care about being a Bronco as much as he cares about the money
Denver's asking him to take a cut this year (2016), and a bigger cut in 2017. I understand the request for one season, but by requiring a reduction for 2017, you're removing his chance to earn his contract.

If it were one year, I'd probably recommend Kaep accept the pay cut, and put himself in a position to either get paid or cut based on his performance in 2016. That doesn't look like the opportunity Denver's offering him. If the way it's being reported is accurate, I'd turn it down too.

That's all you can conclude from his action.........nothing more should be made of it.

I think it was a dig at Elway for that goofy comment he made about Brock. "We only want players that want to be here." or something like that.

To me... I think it's fine that Brock didn't want to be a Bronco & f'ckn giddy that he wanted to be a Texans.

When we play a base 4-3
As has been posted previously on this board, I could see Covington sliding over to DE & us drafting depth behind Wilfork. This is the perfect year to do just that. Nice DL depth in this draft.

That's why they are called PROFESSIONALS. They do it for a living, not for the cheerleaders.

Isn't this thread about the Texans moves?

I agree you should take the money you can get in the short time you have to play. As someone mentioned before it was a dig at Elway when in response to a question about Brock said "We only want players who want to be a Bronco", but they want to go after a QB who was reportedly earlier rather go work with Hue Jackson and the Browns, and doesnt want to give up his money to be a Bronco

That earlier was before Oz signed with Houston iirc.

Before we signed Os Kaepernick asked for permission to seek a trade. He had mentioned he would like to play for the Jets. But iirc, there had been no actual interest reported by any team.

We sign Os, Elway freaks, inquires about Kaep, then there is "interest" from the Jets & the Browns. They made it sound like Denver & SF were close on a deal, but he was more interested in working with Hue Jackson in Cleveland.

I think.

Still, I'm sure Shishkabob is referring to Kaepernick holding up the deal over $5M, when Elway scoffed at Osweiler for a $2M gap.

yea but with todays news he's holding it up over a lot more then 5 mil. He will loose 5 mil this season, and I think next season he is due 14.5 so he would lose 7.5 that season with the way Denver wants to restructure his contract. Then on top of that though I think i read Denver still wants to have him under contract in years 5 and 6 of his deal, which If he plays good again where they want to keep him under contract in those years he will be playing well below the average starting NFL salary by that point in time with the cap expanding.

Sorry didnt mean to cause a big debate just wanted to make a jab at Elway and the broncos fans since before Osweiler was their golden boy who was going to lead them to many SBs and now that he's gone well we dont really want him, he's garbage etc.

Crick leaving makes it all but official that DE is now in play @ #22. Good draft to go after 1 i suppose...I'd still like for them to get a WR 2 there though.
I'd still rather go offense in the first round. This draft is deep enough at DE that they can still get a really good player in later rounds.

Devon Stills may be able to fill that spot if he regains his college form. I believe that is what the Texans may be hoping for now that his mind will be back on football.

I forgot all about us signing him. I think you're right. DE is not a concern going into the draft.

Still has yet to prove anything in the NFL. I wouldn't be relying on him to be our answer at de. If he is then that's a pleasant surprise but I still think it's a position of need. A good dl needs rotation and depth, hopefully with his daughter in remission he can get back to the monster he was in college but don't bank on it

I'm looking at Stills, Covington, & Pagan. I don't believe a DT/DE in the first is off the table, but it shouldn't be too close to the top of our list. I'd target DE/DT much later in the draft is all I'm saying. I'd much rather get that OT... Conklin, Spriggs, Decker.. maybe a WR, even a guard with our first.

I may be crab'n a bit here.

What I'm wanting is for Stills to, at a minimum, play to the level of Crick. I agree that this year we should bolster our offense and if Stills can do this, we should be solid on our defensive line.

Just like all the guys in the draft. The dude was a second rounder, I'm more comfortable taking a chance on him and trying to find some offense in the draft then drafting a DL high.

Yikes we've already invested a virtual 1st round pick on our LG and now you'd seriously consider the same investment on the other side of the OLine ?

My time in Houston is up I gave y'all everything I had. All I have is good memories about this place. I'm truly sorry I couldn't be better in the most precious moments but I'm only human and life happens I've learned to take the Good with the Bad the Ups with the Downs. God is the center and head of my life so I got trust in the man upstairs that my life will pan out the way it should. To the people who know my story,my journey,my testimony you'll know it's just a detour in the road. Imma miss y'all boys in the locker room especially my boys in the DB room we had special times man. Later for now H town

So the Texans waived CB Charles James and replaced him with Al-Hajj Shabazz, claimed on waivers from the Steelers.
