2017 NFL Combine

Any notably combine snubs? I was hoping UH LB Steven Taylor would get an invite. He's really impressed me the past 2 seasons.

In all likelihood they will break the school record for players drafted this year.

Which makes it even tougher to stomach that in all 3 games they lost this year they blew a lead on the final possession. Teams with that much experienced talent should not be doing that.
I dunno but maybe the problem is in the coaching ? While Harbaugh is known as a legendary recruiter that of course don't necessarily mean he's much of a game manager.

Well he took Colin Kaepernick to the Super Bowl so he can clearly coach. The problem is he developed some bad habits in the NFL. He has a tendency to sit on leads and you can't do that in the college game.

Combine needs to open its doors to every draft eligible college football player. If the venue becomes too large for Indy, then Regionalize the event and put it in multiple locations. Let fans attend and of course pricing could be based on folks being able to reach down and grab their ankles since it's an NFL event. Nevertheless, it could be pretty exciting for fans and players alike.

Don't they already have regional combines?

Leonard Fournette weighs in at 240, putting a spotlight on his speed
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 2, 2017, 5:09 AM EST

Former LSU running back Leonard Fournette was the heaviest man in the group when the running backs hit the scales at the Scouting Combine on Wednesday. But will his weight be viewed as a positive or a negative?

Fournette weighed 240 pounds, and he measured at 6 feet, one-half inch. That’s five pounds heavier and half an inch shorter than LSU listed him at.

Five pounds and half an inch isn’t a big deal, but it will cause NFL teams to focus a little more closely on his speed when he runs the 40-yard dash and other on-field drills on Friday. If Fournette can show off blazing speed at 240 pounds, he can solidify his status as a Top 10 pick.

On the other hand, if Fournette runs slower than expected, that will raise questions about whether he’s a plodder who used his size to break tackles at the college level but won’t have the burst to pull away from defenders in the NFL.

All eyes in Indianapolis will be on Fournette when he steps to the line on Friday.

What a laughable statement. If he wants to know if Fournette is a plodder or if he has burst then watch his film. Extrapolating a track run 40-time to explain those things is ludicrous.

Wonder if Fournette will run the 40 at 240? Looks like Foreman dropped weight to run.

Foreman had a nagging ankle injury his whole sophomore year and gained a bunch of weight. He didn't run it off in the off-season because Charlie Strong's staff wanted all the backs to gain weight. Their top RB coming back this year was 6-2 252 and one of their freshmen went from 195 to 220 in one off-season. Strong just wanted all the backs to be as big as possible to take advantage of small Big XII defenses.

I would expect Foreman to hang around 230-235 in the pros, assuming no lower body injuries that prohibit him from conditioning. I don't think he'll balloon back up after the combine.

I'm pretty interested to see how he runs. He is way faster on the field than you would think for the size he was listed at.

T J Logan was looking like a 7th round pick but after his 4:37 will likely go in the fourth.
He is also an "electric" return man and has good hands as well.
He was one of my hidden gems but not any more.

I'm really wanting a power back to lighten the load on Miller. Would love foreman in the second. He runs strong.

O-Linemen who impressed today with their measurables. Which guys stood out for you today? Here's my list.

Forrest Lamp - Beast enough said
Nico Sirgusa - really checked all the boxes all around showing of athleticism and strength, I think he will quickly move up boards now, not one event in which he didn't show well, and a lot of his numbers were at or near the top.
Garret Bolles - although he didn't break records he was the best or second best in nearly all the tests, supposedly a pectoral strain kept him from lifting
Dion Dawkins - good arm length, strength, and overall show of athleticism
Taylor Moton - checked all the boxes as well, size and length.
Dorian Johnson - showed good explosiveness and size
Cam Robinson - really showed that he's got a decent amount of athleticism and quickness to go along with his power
Ethan Pocic/Dan Feeney - solid all around numbers

Other than the guys on your list, I would include Ben Braden. Moved around really well for a guy his size and looked like he knew what he was doing in the drills. I think he would be a solid mid round choice at RG or maybe even RT.

Bama linebacker Reuben Foster sent home from combine by NFL; heated confrontation w medical worker.

Supposedly Foster grew impatient with long line for exams...pulled the "do you know who I am?" card. A male hospital employee, unimpressed, told him he would wait like everyone else. Foster warned the man that he'd put hands on him, and the employee said, simply Do it. -Robert Klemko; Twitter.

John Ross just broke (unofficially) Chris Johnson's record in the 40! A 4.22, and that was with cramps in his calves.

He was wearing Nikes and not Adidas like rules said. Last I read he was not; unless Nike is getting it for him now.

Colossal error on his agents part.

Speaking on WR's what's up with Robert Davis? Small school guy, with great size/speed. Lit up the measurable s today.

6'3" 219

40 YARD DASH: 4.44 SEC
BENCH PRESS: 19 REPS
VERTICAL JUMP: 41.0 INCH
BROAD JUMP: 136.0 INCH
20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.28 SEC
60 YARD SHUTTLE: 11.48 SEC

Watched a game of his vs Charlotte looked decent, caught the ball away from his body, Any thoughts on this guy?

I think I see the pattern:

If you throw in the 40's, you're probably not going to be very good.

If you throw in the low 50's, you're probably not going to be very good.

If you throw in the high 50's, you're probably not going to be very good.

And if you don't throw, you've got a slightly higher chance of being good, but you're still probably not going to be very good.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...-workouts-rank-among-the-best-of-the-century/

The popular physical events at this year’s NFL Indianapolis Combine returned dramatic results in several areas and are viewable and sortable on the CBS Sports combine results pages.

Led by a record 40-yard time of 4.22 seconds by Washington wide receiver John Ross, 10 marks were good enough to rank among the best combine results of the century in data maintained only by NFLDraftScout.com, which has covered the draft since 1987.

Ross’ 4.22 bested the mark of former East Carolina running back Chris Johnson, who was clocked in 4.24 seconds at the 2008 combine.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this and didn't know where to put it.

D'Onta Foreman measured 6-0, 234 at the Texas pro day and was timed between 4.43 and 4.48 in the 40. Those times are unofficial but hand times that low indicate that his official time would have been around top ten for the position at the combine, probably about where Fournette ran.

Ex-QB David Ash tried out as a Punter and Tyrone Swoopes as a TE. Foreman was the only player there that impressed, from what I heard.
