Houston Texans @ Arizona Cardinals, 7:30 PM **Official GameDay Thread** Preseason Gam

Because Obrien thinks he is a QB guru and can "fix him".

The same mistake Kubiak made with Carr. In fact, I see a
lot of parallels between Gary and Bill.

Both think that can be a head coach and an OC. I believe
both are incorrect by doing so..

Let's hope history isn't going to repeat itself..

Anyone still not understanding why he has played quarterback for 5 different NFL teams? I fully understand it and know the answer. What I dont understand is why he is the starting quarterback now for the Houston Texans. What did these clowns expect! I have never seen a Houston Texans team play any worse than they did today.

U must've started watching this team this year then...i can think of at least 4 games that were equvalent/worse...

I am just as upset as the next fan for this performance tonight but some of the comments here are just completely ****ing off base and reek of bandwagon fans. Sorry for the language but it is true

I had to stream it from here in Central Florida and from what I could see from floating in my pool, it looked real bad. I thought the Bucs looked bad last night, however the Texans take bad to a whole other level.

The only bright spot I saw was Clowney's highlight blowing that guy up. Good news considering where he was drafted.

Though, overall not good, especially after how Bortles looked last night. This team is going to be in a division with Luck and Bortles whom I was saying before the draft is going to be a stud at the NFL level.

Not even sure I am on the suck for Winston bandwagon since that guy is a shoplifter. Long season ahead for the Texans.

well since I seem to be most negative, prove me wrong. name one thing I said that is off base.

And maybe I was not referring to you?
fair enough but not sure what was said that was more negative than me of course not reading every post. I think we all should offer honest criticism and not just well hope it gets better because I have little else to do.

I don't want to call anyone out. Your criticisms were almost word for word the same as mine.

I was glad to see Blue running the way he did. I liked him out of the draft and loved the pick when we made it.

Clowney's hit was nice. Getting BTFO in coverage not so much but hopefully he'll improve in that area of the game, seeing as he never had to do it in college.

WR is getting a rap but I think part of it is the crap we put out at QB. Can't catch it if you've got a turd throwing it to you.

I wanna see more Keenum and Savage next week. Sick of Picksmagic already.

Except Kubiak kinda had to take Carr to get the job due to McNair's mancrush on Carr. He got rid of him as soon as he could.
O'Brien hand picked Fitzpatrick.
Admittedly, there wasn't a lot of quality out there in the way of F/A QBs.
....so there's that.

Bullough looked good. I know he was playing against the 2's and 3's. but he was the defensive field captian, directing the defense and being always around the ball. Now, I'm a fan of this kid

Mike Thomas looked AJ good in the face of badly thrown balls.

Blue looked good sometimes---certainly the best RB.

Zone DB defense looked horrible---often seeing a AZ receiver catch a ball in a seam with three TX DB's within 2-3 yards of him.

What's the deal with running starters on D as ST guys, trying to tire them out and make them less effective? It worked.

Way, way too many penalties---some BS, like the Neutral zone infraction that made a Cardinal jump off-sides.

I'm just guessing, but I believe that the Texans FO will be burning up the telephone lines looking for a good proven QB----trade a 1st and 2nd round pick next year if you have to---they're out there.

BTW, is it possible for the Texans secondary to have gotten worse?

The only positives from this game tonight were the running game and the Dline I suppose..

QB play and DB play was horrible. Which is a shame because todays game which is pass happy relies on such thing.

It's only one pre-season game I guess and it will be interesting to see how the coach responds.

Folks need to calm down....we were missing virtually all our playmakers on offense and defense...and we were running vanilla everything.....and its preseason....the 1st preseason with a new coach and offense and defense.

Sure it was disappointing to see that performance after being so thirsty for texans football..but you gotta keep perspective here.

The only real thing to be concerned about is all the penalties...

Other than that we got a glimpse of how watt and clowney are going to work together and it looks like they're gonna raise some hell...

Also, Blue looks like a player...Buoye also looks like an upgrade over Harris as well.
Soooo you think the fact that our first string QB couldn't move the ball against their 2nd team defense is not a problem?

It wouldn't mean much to me except we're coming off a 2-14 season, and I was hoping to see a determined team hungry to win and coming out with a new attitude.

.

You can be as hungry & determined as you want, but you step in the ring with Mike Tyson, you're going to get knocked the fck out.

Believe it or not, that's where we are now. That's the turmoil McNair wanted to avoid back in 2010. Then there were a lot of new faces on the field... we're learning our responsibilities while trying to learn to trust the guy next to them & that person was constantly being traded out.

Not trying to put a positive spin on last night. As a team, we sucked. But it wasn't for lack of want to...

Fitzpatrick does not have an NFL arm. I don't know if that's always been his problem, or if he was just tentative with the new receivers... first game & all that. But we need to see some zip or we can expect to see more Pickspatrick & less Fitzmagic.

I'm willing to allow for first live game jitters with a new coach and system. If we are still saying these same things after the 3rd pre-season game though, it won't be pretty.

What QB is out there that you would trade a 1st or 2nd for (would be high picks too), and please don't say Ryan Mallet.

Mullet didn't look so hot, did he? LOL

And how many humans on this planet are really starting NFL QBs? I suspect there isn't 32 of them on the entire planet, which is a problem the Texans share with other teams.

My thoughts during and the day after the game.

You guys are way overreacting . The Cardinals are an A league team and we're a D league team .

That held water through the first 2 1/2 quarters. Midway through the third when their 3s & 4s were whuppin our 2s.... I don't know. The guys they had playing in the 4th qtr were more together than the guys we had playing in the 1st.

OB needs to settle on who his starters & 2nd string are & start getting them ready for week 1.

Yeah I can agree with that. It's broke let's fix it seems to be the Bill O'brien approach now.

That second TD was a good throw and catch, but clemons has to play that better. He needs to drive on that route. And at the very least get a hand in there.

On that play swearinger did a great job on the corner route.

I thought our deep safeties were in some kind of trance. Every time a receiver was "passed on" there was no one there to pick them up. Like they weren't watching the QB, they weren't watching the receiver... don't know what they were watching.

1st quarter over. I think the score looks worse than how the bulk of the team is playing.

I have seen some good things. And some things that I believe we'll get sharper on as time goes by.

What I don't understand is why did O'Brien wait until the half dozen or so FA QBs were off the board before going with Fitz????
