Teddy Bridgewater

Everyone is bias, repeatedly stating that you are not doesn't change anything. You are a Manziel fan, no shame in it...although I think the stink about Bridgewater's answer is beyond nit picking.

If Bridgewater answers the same question the same way when interviewing this the Texans, then yeah its safe to say he won't be the pick...but assuming he would make such a poor effort to answer a question is wrong.

For the record though, I do understand what you are saying. Manziel's personality ar more commands a room than Bridgwater's does, and that undoubtedly will have an impression on everyone that interviews Johnny...to what degree, and whether to not that rises him on GMs boards will vary.

I'm a Manziel fan? I have said repeatedly that I have Manziel and Bridgewater rated the same. Bridgewater is better now and has a higher floor. Manziel has a higher ceiling. I will be happy with either one of those guys or clowney at number one. So yeah I guess I am a Manziel fan but I'm also Bridgwater and a clowney fan.

I don't see how it could be any more unbiased.

I think Teddy's response to the question will have about as much bearing as Manziel's "frito" quote. They're both non-issues.

I personally find the "Dorito" portion of that quote to be the better indicator of how his game translates to the NFL.

Doesn't look thin to me. Come on, Combine...

This reminds me of the oden v durant deal. Oden was a franchise center,7ft 300lbs with the power and quickness we haven't seen since shaq. Meanwhile, durant,6'10 sf, 200lbs and couldn't bench press 1 time. He was too skinny to survive in nba, guys will get in his body, were the concerns. 5 yrs later, durant will probably win mvp and has taken his team to the finals, but the man child has missed seasons and comes off the bench.

I say this because if TB had history of being nicked, injured,or hurt a lot or often,I would be scared of his size, but he hasn't. Why? He gets rid of the ball by throwing guys open and anticipating windows. He's not the knida of guy who tries to make a big play out of every play. He hs great mobility, but its in the pocket. He climbs in the pocket, but stays in it and feels the pressure. Some guys feel the pressure and take off or retreat vs trusting the protection.

Teddy Bridgewater 6'2 1/8", 214 lbs., 9 1/4" hand.

Certainly adequate size. A little shorter than I would have hoped (I realize that 7/8 of an inch is not a big deal, so relax), and with a little smaller hands, but these numbers should not hurt his stock.

His hands are certainly smaller than i anticipated..but still very much adequate for the position. It explains a few things though.

He almost never throws a spiral...

So, I´d say the questions about his size/frame has been answered? Although he doesn`t have prototypical size and frame I´d say they are more then adequat. His hand size might be a small concern, but he never was much of a fumbler and always a pretty acurate passer.

I am pretty sure he will interview well. Actually I am pretty sure he will do everything well. If he doesn`t end up the first pick it will be more because of his level of competition and because the team wants another kind of player at QB - I don`t think he could`ve presented himself much better with the position he was in. In my mind he is still the number 1 QB and a guy, you can build your team around. He might not have the ceiling of Manziel, but I think his worst case is Alex Smith (ultimate game manager that doesn`t do many mistakes) with a good chance of him becoming way better than that.

They'll fall back on the glove. "It ain't American!"

That makes sense, scientifically speaking. If your grip is a function of the force exerted by the hand and the surface area of the force applied by surface of the hand multiplied by some coefficient of friction, then by adding gloves with a much higher coefficient of friction you thus increase the grip. I wonder how much length it makes up for. Ie a 8 inch gloves hand is comparable to a 8 1/2 inch unblocked hand.

He almost never throws a spiral because of 9 1/4 hand size?

In relation to the football that is not the case.

Both should be good enough. If they were 8-1/4" and 8-3/8" then I would be concerned.

I didn't say anything about not big enough and Texian it has nothing to do with "in relation to football." Bortles as a much bigger guy has marginally larger hands. That is not a comment that either is too small. It is more an observation on the commentary to date. Their hand size is insignificantly different to the eye and yet the larger Bortles was never questioned about it, i.e. this has all been created controversy over the glove or just people repeating things about TB.

You mess with Bortles you mess with Texian , you've be n warned . Kinda like Renfield and Dracula , Tom and Jerry , Abbott and Costello , Mustard and Ketchup , and peas and carrots . :mail:

Talk about over-analyzing. The kid is big enough and plays very well. Open and shut case, Johnson.

How were Teddy's finger nails? Were they long enough?. Studies show that it can affect a spiral and Super Bowl berth.

It has everything to do with "The Football". The whole reason they measure "Hand Size" is to know how it fits to the circumference of the football. Basic physics. A BIGGER throwing hand is advantageous in bad weather and in general ball security.

Yep.

I remember it well also. I was 19 when they moved it to 21 in Texas. They had grandfathered the prior move from 18 to 19 but didn't grandfather the move from 19 to 21.

I remember the legal drinking age "walking up" from 18 pretty much in step with my own age. Once I turned 18 I could drink and I don't remember ever dropping back at any time as it went up.

that's just my memory. It could be off or maybe I just had a run of never being carded in there.

Not necessarily, if Bortles shows he can't throw the ball 40 yds HE'S OUT. Unlike the Teddy Fanatics I'm not married to Bortles. In fact over the course of the season I have changed opinions a couple of times. Unlike Teddy Fanatics who have been all-in on Teddy since the 2013 Sugar Bowl. Until I see another QB who can WIN games in the last 2 minutes as well or better than Bortles has proved he can do, Bortles is the man.

Part of the reason many of the armchair pretend scouts in the media are 100% committed to Teddy is because they were neck deep in their affirmation and coronation of Teddy before the 2013 season even started. One of the big flaws in the human character is the inability to admit one is wrong or admitting a mistake as is the case with many armchair pretend scouts in the media. When Teddy turns out to be Sam Bradford the Teddy Fanatics will say they knew it all along.

What if Teddy turns out to be Rogers ? You gonna say you were wrong ?

I don't know anyone on this board who is set in stone about their QB choice except about three posters . Their QB choices are Bortles , Manziel , and McCarron . Now name that poster .

Throwing a spiral also is snapping the wrist .

Do you even read some of the stuff you type? The grip on a football most often times is a direct result of the size of the hand genius. Most guys with small hands can't grip the ball well b/c it's too large around the area where the threads are. Their hands just don't have a large enough surface area to rest the ball on. This limits the amount of the ball the index finger can wrap around the smaller part of the ball..and since the index is the main contributor in creating spin on the ball and it's the last finger off the ball...........

You can improve this with wearing gloves, but its minimal..

Teddy Bridgewater 6'2 1/8", 214 lbs., 9 1/4" hand.

If the Texans select Bridgewater I'm giddy about that weight. The only reason I questioned it was because he was listed at 205 two years ago & 195 last year. He looked every bit of 195. However his proponents argued he lost weight due to off season surgery.

He had plenty of time to put weight on during the season. Not doing so would lead me to believe he's naturally thin & a hard gainer.

214 tells me he did add weight during y get season & probably played between 205~210. I'm disappointed he isn't a true 6'3" but what I've seen makes that negligible.

Besides. I continued to add height till I was 24. Then I started growing out.

Something very wrong with this part of your post..
