This is the end of the season theory imho. The final 4-5 divisional games are a must win. Regardless of money if the passing is mediocre and not getting it done Brock needs to put it all out and run the ball too. No more of this sheltering protection. There is still Savage and Breeden. Brock has been known to be athletically gifted and can run. As with most starting QBs usually they don’t want you to run because of injury and contracts. This is the end of the season and that would be just another new look on the playbook to scramble more. Winning isn’t everthing it’s the only thing. Like the the man said "what do ya have to lose.” Brock give it all up passing and running.
Brock is not the kind of QB you want to use as a runner. He has done a good job scrambling for 1st downs to extend drives when plays/protection has broken down, but to have him run the option or designed run plays would be a mistake.

The 2016 AFC South division title is ours!
We'll be 4-0 in the division with two left to play.
And we're going to beat the Jags and Titans.
A perfect 6-0 division record will clinch it for us.
Regardless if we win or lose against the Bengals.
I was implying your second sentence but it doen t always have to be 1st down. Of course all the the plays the qb shouldn t run or be planned to run. I was trying to explain with tight coverage and low pass yds more ruuning can also extend passing yards.Brock is not the kind of QB you want to use as a runner. Exactly. keep em on their toes. Dont let the other team know that playing conservative qb is the only road to take. Most if not all qb dont run because of injury and investment. In the Texans situation fans are talkin about qb options because of Brocks performance. Well there 2 other qbs and low investment. If it weren t for the 32 mil guarantee 2 yrs would Brock be in there right now ? Who knows.....At this point, it couldn't be any worse than when he stays in the pocket and throws. I hope he is a runnin' and scramblin' mf-er on sunday.

What I would like to see is more running off tackle and outside that takes advantage of the skillsets of Miller and Hunt. I would also like to see both of these guys run some wheel routes. We have players who can make plays in space and we need to be more creative in getting them the ball in situations where they can do just that.
I think you hit the nail on the head, JB.If only the coaching staff could design plays to get them open in space... since the NE game they don't even try any more other than the no huddle second half against the Colts. No more no huddle, no more up tempo no more success
I have seen moments where Brock seems to be finally getting it. Problem is he hasn't been able to string enough of those moments together. End of preseason and first couple of games he looked like he was making real progress and he could be the guy. Since the NE game it has been a tough road. Trying to figure out what happenned, I think the offensive philosophy changed after that game and we stopped being the aggressor on offense. This was compounded by spotting play on the offensive line that totally threw off Bricks timing, mechanics and internal clock. IIRC Brock's throwing in the dirt started with the NE game. Another factor has been QB and receiver inerpretting the coverage differently and not being on the same page. All leads to ineffective offensive play.
If our offense can rediscover the spark they had at the start of the season and Brock can have the degree of accuracy he had then, we can win this game. I remember being impressed with his accuracy and touch on long passes at the time, but Brock has not been that QB since game two. I have no idea what to expect out of this team this weekend and no confidence they can put four quarters of good football together on either side of the ball.
I agree with your take (except maybe the post NE part - I felt like we were more aggressive in the Raiders game and possibly Indy but I mostly agree) but I wanted to single out this part. I really feel like a big part of Brock's inability to string together these moments has to do with BoB not taking advantage of momentum. It's a part of every sport - if a player gets a hot hand, go back to him again and again until the streak plays its course. That's what happened in the Arizona preseason game - our passing game got going and we stuck with it and Brock looked great. We've abandoned the pass when our running game gets going in a few games with some fairly good success, but never the other way around. To be clear, I'm not saying you ever completely abandon the run or pass in any game, but heavily favor one over the other as momentum dictates. We just never favor the pass when it's working and I feel like this is why our offense has struggled like it has.Problem is he hasn't been able to string enough of those moments together.
Seems like anything that is working we tend to abandon this season.I agree with your take (except maybe the post NE part - I felt like we were more aggressive in the Raiders game and possibly Indy but I mostly agree) but I wanted to single out this part.
