Week 8: Texans vs Panthers- Battle of The Rookie Quarterbacks

Texansballer74

The Marine
The Houston Texans (3-3) visit the Carolina Panthers (0-6) on Sunday in Week 8 of NFL action. Kick from Bank of America Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we look at Texans vs. Panthers odds from BetMGM Sportsbook. Also see: SportsbookWire’s NFL picks and predictions.

The Texans enter Sunday coming off a bye week. Most recently, they took down the New Orleans Saints 20-13 to cover as 2-point road underdogs. QB C.J. Stroud went 13 of 27 for 199 yards along with 2 touchdowns and an interception in the victory. Houston ran for 120 yards on the day with RB Devin Singletary leading the way (12 carries, 58 yards). The Texans defense forced 2 turnovers as well.

The Panthers also enter Sunday coming off a bye week while being the only team in the NFL who has yet to win a game. Most recently, they fell 42-21 to the Miami Dolphins while failing to cover as 14-point road underdogs. They held a 14-0 lead after the 1st quarter before giving up 35 points unanswered. WR Adam Thielen had a standout game with 11 receptions for 115 yards and a TD.

THIS THE SUPERBOWL FOR THE PANTHER'S!!!

Everyone in the Carolina organization will be VERY motivated to win this one.

For The Carolina Owner, The Carolina General Manager, The Carolina Head Coach, and the Carolina Starting QB, winning this game against CJ Stroud, is the only way for them not to look like complete idiots. So, you can expect Carolina to pull out all the stops on this game. Winning this game for the Texans is very important, But getting CJ out of Carolina in one piece, has to be the number one goal.

Remember the person that looks like the biggest idiot of all, for the drafting of the midget instead of CJ, is the Carolina Owner, Steve Tapper. Tapper would not at all be upset if CJ were to just happen to spend the rest of the season (or for that matter the rest of his career) on IR. Either of those outcomes would go a long way to making Tapper look like less of an idiot. Generally if the the owner really wants something to happen on his football team, he gets it. So if Tapper tells his coaching staff to put out a "CODE RED" on CJ, it will happen.

There are some gigantic egos that have been very badly bruised because of the midget''s failures and CJ's success, so be prepared for anything. Getting CJ back to Houston, still on his feet, has to be number one goal for the Texans.

The Panthers have played an unbalanced schedule thus far with 4 games on the road and only 2 at home. The Panthers defense has allowed an average of 303 yards/game and 17 points/game at home. They've also scored twice on defense thus far.

The Panthers running game has been abysmal, ranking 26th in attempts and 23rd in yards. Their passing attack has one threat in Adam Thielen (509 yards, 4 TDs). They have 12 passing plays of 20+ yards over 6 games, with Andy Dalton picking up 5 in week 3 with Young injured.

The Panthers will try to create some explosive plays early in the game to keep the Texans safeties out of the box. Look for misdirection and gadget plays, also. Their defense will try to blitz early to create turnovers.

All in all, one team will look desperate. And one team will have confidence in their plan. A poised Texans team takes this game in Charlotte, 24-17.

If the Texans want to make the playoffs this is as close as a week 8 game can come to a must win. Texans probably need to go at least 7-4 to close out the year and this is one of 3 "bad" teams we will face this year. Gotta make these W's

Friendly public service announcement......
Arlington plays on Fox at noon, as well as the Texans. Unless you are in the Houston viewing area, very good chance you will have to make arrangements to watch elsewhere!

I hate that the NFL can put any team on any network. Texans have played on FOX lots this season already.
Both AFCS matchups have been on FOX.
Week 5 at Atlanta was on FOX, normally on CBS
And then this week, normally on CBS.
And the last game against the Tacks will be on FOX also.

Why did they change from AFC on CBS and NFC on FOX?

That's a lot of carries to get 120 yards. 🫣😔

I wonder if Stroud will have motivation to prove he should've been #1?

If CJ has any competitive fire inside him (which I’m more than positive he does) he will play like a man possessed. The Panthers pretty much lied to him in the lead up to the draft then pulled the rug from underneath him. I hope he plays with a chip on his shoulders and torches their secondary!

eh....

That would be like my wife putting a lot of effort into proving she's better than her ex boyfriends wife. I mean, who are you trying to convince?

Ugh. Times like this make me happy that my buddy sprung for NFL Sunday Ticket this year

I really dont like the Sunday Ticket since it moved to Youtube.

I wont be renewing it next yr. 1st time since 1994 that I wont have the Sunday Ticket.

Steel,
Was wondering what your issue is with it on YouTube TV?.
This is my first year springing for Sunday ticket so I have nothing to compare it to.
Seems fine to me. My brother in law in Buffalo can watch his stupid Eagles at the same time I watch the Texans without issue, which I think is pretty cool.

I’m a little concerned Rankins and Woods missed practice yesterday with something other than “veteran rest” designation. I hope they are back in practice today. Also, will the Texans lead the league in players wearing clubs on their hands?

Here is a look at Wednesday’s injury report:

Did Not Participate:
  • Defensive Tackle Sheldon Rankins (Knee)
  • Wide Receiver Robert Woods (Foot)
Limited Participation:
  • Wide Receiver Xavier Hutchinson (Foot)
  • Tight End Brevin Jordan (Foot)
  • Defensive Tackle Hassan Ridgeway (Calf)
  • Left Tackle Laremy Tunsil (Knee)
  • Safety Jimmie Ward (Rest)
Full Participation:
  • Linebacker Blake Cashman (Wrist)
  • Wide Receiver Tank Dell (Concussion)
  • Right Tackle Tytus Howard (Hand)
  • Right Tackle Josh Jones (Hand)
  • Linebacker Denzel Perryman (Hand)
  • Defensive Back Tavierre Thomas (Hand)

I’m a culturally Deaf person. I hate it because they have fewer stuff that is closed captioned since they moved over there from Directv. I need the closed captioning or I can’t watch. It sucks.

Worse. For every illegal firestick used, a tree dies in the rain forest.

That's what Jeff Bezos told me.
But for every dollar spent on Amazon is one more time Jeff Bezos gets to Deshaun Watson space with his Freudian ship.

I don't know. I kind of stumbled into mine. One of my wife's friends sent us one to try out. I send her $42 a month and the signal gets reset. ITs worked great so far. I get to see all the UFC fights for free, boxing, etc.
I'll have to stick with my free streaming :D
