Post Game: Texans vs Jets- Monkey Stumped by The Worst Offense in the League

It's unfortunate, but I'm not shocked by the loss. It's a young team. Sometimes another team comes along and just whips ya'. Chalk it up to experience and move on to the Tits.

This team is headed in the right direction, but it's going to take some time and some hard lessons. As a fan, I'm patient for the big picture, and most importantly, my emotional state is independent of the outcome of any of it.

Dead on DB

I’m confused? I was sure that Scruggs -did- play last week.
Yes thanks for correction. My mind had that game and the Jaguars reversed. I still just don't think having Tytus Howard at left guard would have been that much better.

Felt this one coming. Zach Wilson his whole career has either turned the ball over and or checked it down. Texans were horribly coached to defend the Jets….. 30 points to Zach Wilson. Media needs to go hard on Demeco this week. Why can’t the defense tackle or why are they out of position every week so frequently? Our linebacking core can’t cover. It’s the weakness of the team.

Offensively? Has anyone not named Tank Dell made a play for Stroud? The drops are ridiculous. It’s the NFL. It’s not like it’s Ryan Mallet throwing wobbly fastballs behind receivers. CJ throws possibly the most catchable ball in the league and week after week we are witnessing horrid drop after drop.

Team looked extremely unprepared out there.
Didn't Collins catch 9 for 190 last week? But yes, they need to add a RB/WR/TE to the team.

Gotta add a LB or 2 in FA. Losing Cashman really hurt them.

Don't have enough good DB's either
I was looking forward to seeing Nelson, Stingley, Ward, Pitre, & King out there. I hoped the front four would be able to get to the QB. The front four did a decent job chasing Wilson off his spot, but the kid was making wonder throws & they ball was bouncing their way today.

I can't be to hard on the team considering at the start of the season we expected to be picking in the top 5 if not top 3 in the next draft and here we are a possible playoff team? Yeah we are ahead of schedule on this rebuild. Also people forget, and seeing how they have played its easy to do, but when Jets got Rodgers they were predicted to be a playoff team if not a SB team. There is talent on that team but poor play at the QB position has made people forget that. Jets are a perfect trap team, they have talent in the oddest places, a QB carousel but a young guy playing for his career who may or may not be an NFL level QB, a crappy field that seems to be designed to injure players and a bad record that makes them seem to be easy pickings.
Quoted for truth, except I predicted 3 yrs ago that the Texans would be a playoff team this yr. I still think it will happen.

I know Wilson has sucked, but there's a reason he was picked 1-2 in his draft class.

Not really, he had easy outlet passes because they played a soft zone like they did vs young. The pass rush was too far upfield which gave him lanes and the zone gave him high school type throws. It looked like defense was content on making Wilson throw the ball and hoped he makes a mistake.

C'mon bro, your playoffs idea is all out of context. When I pressed you last year after the sorry season, you back tracked
Yes I did when I saw that they were going to draft Stroud. In fact I said if the ol stayed healthy and Stroud played avg to above avg they would win 10 games. Who would have thought Stroud would have been this good?

I just want to put on the record what I said.

So against the Titans, we likely don't have Cashman (hamstring), CJ (Concussion), Nico (Calf). Even if Schultz is back, this looks really bad. With Cashman out our weak pass defense just got even weaker. Odds on scoring more than 14 with Davis Mills and those receivers is low. Not gonna be a playoff run guys. WA after looking like a game wrecker the previous week was not very visible either. We cannot keep nice things

He stated that with the new coach at that time. Made it seem as if every new regime will take 3 plus years to rebuild. Now we’re switching up the narrative to make it seem as if they were spot on.

Pretty clever huh. Lol pretty darn clever.
I said what I said

Some posters SMH

I said what I said
You did.

When I interpreted it, not your fault just using the context when you said it, it was like you were saying the team is crap, but with Nick's additions in FA & Demeco as coach our 3/4 win team became a 6/7 win team & if we had a good QB it would be a 9/10 win team.

But you didn't think S2roud was a good QB so you "predicted" 6/7 wins. S2roud showed to be a pretty good QB even for a rookie. You admitted you were wrong about S2roud & since he is a good QB the Texans should win 10 games.

I just feel like I screwed up and began to get excited about this team and that's on me.
I think everyone agrees that it's on you.

There was a lot of familiarity between the coaching staffs. And it was the Jets staff take took advantage. The Jets were able to rush 4 and get to the QBs. On the stat sheet, the Texans had 4 sacks and 9 QB hits. But it sure didn't feel that way. Zach Wilson had too much time to look downfield. He's a slow processor and defenses use that against him by bringing a lot of pressure. The Texans? Nah, we're good bringing 4 guys. And even though they had some sacks and QB hits, the time allowed in the pocket overall was just too much for any QB. Not the strategy other teams deploy vs Wilson.

Nitro apparently you wasn’t here when SB was crapping all over CJ, the people he supposedly hung around and his agent. You wasn’t here when he stated no quarterback from Ohio State amounted to anything in the NFL. He changed his mind once he actually saw him play here. Before then it wasn’t a 10 win team. Thunder is correct with his time table of events. Steel has admitted his was wrong.
He also said a new regime will take 3 years to rebuild. This new regime is way ahead of the game.

Exactly

I think it was on several of us. Some of us believed this team was at a level where the incompetence of the last 3 years was a thing of the past.

CJ had his worst "least productive" day as a pro and that certainly was a part of it. The second half needs to be flushed down the commode. The light briefly came on after the turnover and the score but then the kicker misses the XP. Not much went right yesterday.

Still, I'll be in front the tube this Sunday hoping Davis Mills doesn't recreate 2022 right before my very eyes.

Talk about a worst case possible outcome. Not only did we get our butts kicked, but probably our most valuable players right now got injured... Nico, Cash, Will and CJ. Ugh!

I'm not down on this team, though. We are young, we are thin, so hoping everyone learns from this.

Still in good position to make playoffs, but injuries are starting to catch up to us... not good for a team this thin.

Can the Texans have the game investigated to make sure that wasn’t Aaron Rodgers playing QB??
if you saw Zach Wilson against the KC Chiefs he played well against them. The young man is better than his overall career has gone to this point. Like Geno Smith, upon leaving a bad situation with the Jets his career will be resurrected. If I am wrong so be it I will happily admit I was wrong. However will all you doubters admit I was right if Zach Wilson turns his career around?

Will be interesting to hear what DeMeco told his players after the game

He said that the team will watch every single play. Find out what happened and make sure it never happens again.

They have been playing sound bites all day on the radio. I hope he is serious and that the players and staff take accountability for their own mistakes and fix them. My prediction is that the defense will be out for blood next game. Sadly, Mills might be starting. I also heard that due to the loss and weather. Maybe BSlow will all but be forced into getting a run game going. Hopefully not on like 3rd and 8 and he just calls a run. But, start Singletary is step 1. Step 2 is block as good as the guys on the current OL can and open up some holes...even small ones (have to start somewhere).

Read TK's post to me about this.

He is Spot On.

Their backend worked better with their front end than ours did. When they were able to get pressure, even without the sack, Cj was having to make some throws that were difficult to catch. & he overthrew a couple.

When our defense got Wilson off his spot, he was able to throw to wide open receivers.

I absolutely was here. Know something else? I was here when steelb said stupid stuff five years ago. also ten years ago. Fifteen. And so on and on. The point here is… move on. He owned it. He may have squirmed a little but he owned it. Nobody -else- can let it go, especially when posts start becoming “doctored”. It’s ridiculous. I bet this post gets “deleted” too.

*shrugs*

I’m concerned we are going to get a nasty reminder of exactly why the talent on this team looked so bad over the last few seasons with Davis Mills starting next week.

This guy is going to telegraph the check down pass, is going to miss wildly when he does lob it deep, he just isn’t good at all to the point he brings those playing around him down as opposed to elevating them.

We got Case. Why the hell is Mills starting if CJ is out? Case is a hundred times better than Mills.

Though I don't disagree, my biggest fear with Case is that he hasn't seen many snaps the last 4 years. Just 2 starts and 39 total snaps in parts of 4 other games, including none this year. That said, I'd still take him over Mills but I don't really feel good with either.

Could be worse (Chargers) complete dumpster fire season, Easton Stick starting QB with lame duck Head Coach in charge
Getting rid of Staley has been long overdue.

Hopefully for you being a Chargers fan Harbaugh's next stop will be in L.A.

You know me, I don’t view myself as knowledgeable in coaching aspect, I was very wrong about Staley, thought he was a great hire. However, never been a fan of Telesco. Since being more of a talent acquisition specialist, I absolutely hate his roster build, and paying the few elite players so much in comparison to those who pull the weight.

As it compares to Texans, I feel the same way. Time will tell. One thing I do know from coaching side is you must have continuity (Herbert has had 3 OC’s in four years). Worst thing in team building is changing coaching staffs, prematurely. NFL is so competitive, you need to be clicking in all aspects, from talent evaluation, coaching schemes and implementing on field, a united vision. Slowick & DeMeco need to be locked up & supported with very best of Nick Caserio.

This is it.
It's one of many/few (relative)... Panthers, Jags, Jets... happens-- prob another 1, poss 2 more gut-punch loss to deal with this season. The air aint out the balloon though.

Unless you were thinking they were going to win them all I can't see how any loss this season is "gut-punch."

Did you think the Texans were going to win 7 games this year? I didn't. They have. It's all gravy from here on out.

I'm just enjoying watching them play, win or lose. Hopefully they learn more in those losses & become all the better for it.
